FPAC is the largest and longest running annual Filipino tradition in Southern California - ...85 exhibitors… …450 volunteers… …1,200 artists… and over 25,000 guests keep FPAC alive year after year. It is you, the community, who have supported this celebration, make it all possible. This year’s theme is katutubong landas tungo masaganang bukas – “native ways toward a prosperous future.” It is our native ways, our traditions, that anchor our community. It is also through our native ways, our human experiences, that we find common threads that interweave the diverse communities that make up our landscape. Whether we refer to "community" as the youth, the various groups that make up Los Angeles, or the community of Pilipinos worldwide, it is our native ways – of song, of dance, of art, of cuisine, of cultivating the earth – that we pass on to future generations, to continue to ensure a prosperous future. In keeping with the theme of ensuring a prosperous, sustainable future, we will, as in previous years, will provide bus transportation from various locations across LA County. Featured Artists at F.P.A.C.: HAPPYSLIP CHRISTINE GAMBITO (aka HappySlip) is one of the Web’s biggest and brightest stars. Her videos have been seen over 45,000,000 times across YouTube and her site HappySlip.com collectively. In January of this year, Gambito was appointed as an honorary ambassador to Philippines tourism by the Department of Tourism. In March 2007, Gambito's video “Mixed Nuts” was nominated for a 2006 Youtube Video Awards for Best Comedy. Gambito's performances typically include comedic sketches in which she impersonates members of her family. She also sings and plays the piano or guitar. She is notably one of the very few top creators on Youtube that is acting, filming, editing, and producing her shorts completely on her own. As a SAG/AFTRA actress in New York City, Gambito landed parts in television commercials, movies, and industrials. However, the creation of HappySlip has allowed her to display her unique talents to a worldwide audience right from her own home. THOSE KIDS Those Kids are goofy, crazy, and awesome entertainers that have captured the hears of many. Caite, Ciara and Daric Carajal have been performing at many community events, festivals and shows throughout California, Hawaii and Nevada. At age 2, she moved to the Hawaiian Islands with her family. Her father, a U.S. Naval Seaman, enabled her to travel the world at an early age. However, Hawaii would prove to become her home, influencing her lifestyle and her music. Throughout her life, Camile spent her time developing her skills as a performer and in the recording studio. She quickly became a local celebrity on her home island of Maui. In 2003, with the encouragement of her family and friends, Camile auditioned for the third season of American Idol. As she advanced further and further in the competition, America was awestruck by her exceptional voice and charismatic personality. Camile finished in the Top Ten out of 80,000 participating contestants and performed live for over 25 million viewers on FOX. Shortly after the completion of the competition in 2004, Camile went on tour with her fellow contestants on a sold out National Tour. She has interviewed, featured, and performed in many places including People Magazine, MTV, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, NASCAR, NFL Pro Bowl. She also signed an exclusive contract with Universal/Motown which enabled her to work with notable artists such as Apl (Black Eyed Peas), Pras (Fugees), and Jeru the Damaja. Currently, Camile is living in Los Angeles and working on a debut solo album that will be released on Up Above Records and includes collaborations with Grammy Award winning producers. ASHLEY ROBLES ASHLEY ROBLES born and raised in San Diego, is a singer/songwriter/producer who is no stranger to the music industry. In 1998 she signed her first record contract with First Avenue Records (UK) and later release her first recording, “God’s With Us”, on the Touched by an Angel Christmas album under Sony/Epic Records.
